We're not talking about food, though quality matters there, too. What are you feeding your eyes, your ears, your mind?
The latest scandals? The current atrocities in the news? Tales of horror and abuse, of violence and destruction? Exactly how does this benefit you?
When you bombard yourself with negativity over and over, it has to have an effect on you, and it does. It drags you down to a more negative outlook on your own life and environs.
Regarding the news, there are things you need to know, and things you don't. There are things you can and should do something about, things you can't, and things that aren't your business. Can you begin to tell the difference?
Some things take on an enhanced aura of importance simply because of the horrified fascination they engender. Is this really a measure of a news item's importance? Of course not.
They are no longer about disseminating information, or informing the public about real news. Far from it. News has become entertainment because entertainment sells.
These same principles hold true for your choices of amusement and entertainment. Let them not taint you. If they are not uplifting, put them down and look elsewhere. You can do better, and it will be better for you if you do.
What you expose yourself to, hours at a time, matters. Your spongelike soul and psyche soak it up, and it alters you little by little, bit by bit, and you may not even feel it happening.
You don't want to drown yourself in waste material when there is clear, sparkling water to enjoy splashing in.
Make the same sort of choices for the rest of your life. There is plenty for you to see and do that is positive and not deleterious to your well-being and healthy outlook, and still amusing or fun. Think about it.
We love and bless you this day. That's good news, isn't it?
Namaste.
I'm very limited in the news and media as I find it negative, thoughtless, and full of scandal. I used to be a news junkie as I frequented many web sites, watched several tv channels, etc but those days are gone. Blogs such as yours are generally what I read as a positive inspiring message will be dispensed. Newspapers are certainly negativity magnets and guess that's why I reach for the crossword puzzle first if one is purchased :) Keep feeding me uplifting messages as they are much appreciated!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'll try to keep it coming, David. This is truly experimental for me, as I don't know from one day to the next what will happen, or what they will choose to talk about. My job is to listen and either record it on a voice recorder or write it down. And not to get too depressed by the news to be able to do it, I'm thinking.
